Mahama’s hammering continues…

Hon. John Dramani Mahama, has taken the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) to task for lacking a sense of direction and priority.

Speaking at a campaign event in Cape Coast on Sunday, the VP Candidate attacked the NPP for putting state-owned properties for sale only to turn around and purchase those same properties themselves.

He hammered the NPP government on its decision to spend over US$100 million on 2 Presidential jets, while the navy lacked the necessary logistics to undertake their constitutionally mandated tasks. He further question priorities of the NPP, asking if those priorities should with themselves first, or with the people that voted them into office.

He added, “soon they will sell Parliament House and the Castle, and after selling all the properties of Ghana, they will sell Ghanaians as well.”
He went on to assure the fishermen of Prof. Atta Mills’ commitment to abolish pair trawling in our waters and support the navy to enforce that.

He explained the NDC’s social democratic ideology, adding that the masses were at the centre of the NDC’s policies, asking the people to vote massively for the party in order to enjoy its human centered approach to governance.

There was a deafening No !, when Hon. Mahama asked the workers in the crowd whether they had been paid as of 31st August, to that he commented that the NDC did pay workers before the 30th of every month.

When he took his turn, Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia, the party’s General Secretary asked civil society to measure all the parties and their flagbearers with the same yardstick when calling for the December elections to be peaceful, reiterating the NDC’s position to one of non-violence, as has been done by the leader of the party, Prof john Evans Atta Mills.

Ms. Ama Benyiwa Doe, Women’s Organizer of the party, took the gathering through the credentials and accomplishments of the flagbearer, Prof. Mills amidst a rousing response. She asked if his opponents could trump that - making the case for Prof. Mills readiness to lead, and his sense of judgement.

She urged the people to vote massively for Prof Mills to turn the fortunes of the region around, and advised them to be wary of the NPPs divide and rule politics. He also asked them to ignore the NPP sponsored lies about Prof Mills playing the ‘ethnic card’, asking why a Chief from Akuffo-Addo’s area will lead the destruction of NDC posters there.

Mr. Ebo Barton-Odro, the parliamentary candidate of the party in Cape Coast, assured the people that, should he be elected, he is ready to work with everyone, irrespective of political affiliations, to help develop the town.

Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, the National Organizer of the party, talked about the Polling Station task force that the party is forming to monitor the ballot. He advised the crowd to be vigilant as victory was certain at the polls but could only be ensured through a free and fair elections

Later, the campaign team joined a keep fit event, where chants of ‘ye sesa mu’ (we are changing the government) could be heard from almost everyone present.
