Mahama Ayariga, MP for Bawku Central, and a member of the Prof. Atta Mills campaign team, has discounted reports in a section of the media, that the NDC flag-bearer is engaging in tribal politics.
He stressed that rather, it is the NPP that is struggling very hard to find responses to the NDC’s coordinated campaign issues and as such is resorting to various malicious charges against Prof Mills, including the “playing of ethnic cards”
Responding to allegations by the Akuffo-Addo owned newspaper – the statesman, that John Evans Atta Mills, had said “Because there is no sea in the Ashanti Region, President Kufuor does not see the need to pay attention to the plight of fishermen”, He said the NDC is making significant inroads in its campaign that is “why our opponents are getting jittery and they are trying to throw mud and all sorts of things at us…but we would not be distracted.”
Mr. Ayariga, in further comments, said that the NDC Flagbearer’s campaign was yielding positive results as Prof. Mills has undertaken a thorough assessment of the needs of the various constituencies on his campaign tours and made firm commitments to meet the needs of the people.
In an interview with Kwasi Srapong, monitored on JOY FM, he added that “We are very convinced that our performance will improve dramatically, and this is based on the discussions we had with people and the commitment they openly and privately made to Prof. Mills”
